Moze & Jiaoqiu
Honkai Star Rail

Joining the Xianzhou Yaoqing crew with this set! We started this project sometime ago but put them on hold, and then we were having Mozeqiu brainrot so we decided to switch our crafting plan to finish them first. Ofc I had to ask Mei to be my pretty foxian boyfriend hehe I told them now they get to cosplay someone as obsessed with spicy foods as they are 😂

We drafted their patterns manually and modified further using mock fabric. For the details we used mixed materials/techniques: applique with mixed fabrics, pleather, trims, machine embroidery, rhinestones and vinyl.

We modeled most of their accessories and props and printed them with PLA, and we used EVA foam for part of Moze's shoulder piece. For Jiaoqiu's ears and tail, we made our own dye mix to dye white faux fur and we did it in layers (with a dye bath and then a light spray coating). The tail has a wire base which we padded with batting material before covering it with our dyed fur, and for the ears we used a cat ear headband as a base which we then covered with our dyed fur.

One of our favorite things to do with our cosplay pairs is to match fabrics as much as possible because our cosplays always come as a set for us. For our Mozeqiu, we used Jiaoqiu's red fabric for Moze's lining and Moze's inner shirt fabric as Jiaoqiu's coat lining and same goes with their accent pieces.

A lot of the details on their designs are our original designs. We also turned Jiaoqiu's brooch into a star anise inspired shape and added some original accessory pieces on both of them.

The most difficult thing for us for this project is the patterning. Since we are entirely self taught, it was painful figuring out weird Hoyoverse pieces i.e. the way Moze's hoodie is slanted or how Jiaoqiu had fake sleeves that couldn't be connected to an armhole in a traditional way.
